| RILC is a community legal centre specialising in all aspects of refugee and immigration law, policy and practice. RILC assists asylum seekers and disadvantaged migrants in the community and in detention. The range of casework & advice undertaken by RILC includes: •sponsorship of spouse, finance, children & other family members from overseas •applications for change of status for those seeking permanent residence in Australia •applications for protection visas (refugee status) in Australia •advice to those seeking to propose people overseas for the refugee & special humanitarian programs •advice to people held in immigration detention •advice on all other migration visa categories including re-entry or return visas •advice on conditions attached to visas such as permission to work & Medicare eligibility •representation & advocacy in cases before the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA) •appeals and representation before the migration tribunals •advice on visa cancellation matters •advice to over-stayers & other illegal immigrants •referral for counselling and assistance on related social welfare issues such as accommodation, social security & counselling for torture & trauma survivors. |
